Chantilly

Château de Chantilly, the most fabled estate in the north of France, whose noble architecture has invited instant recognition from afar and defied the passage of time with a lasting legacy of aristocratic grandeur since 1560.

Château de Chantilly traces its origins to two of the most illustrious names in the history of French nobility – the Montmorency and the Condé families. At the end of the 19th century, the property was bequeathed by the heir, the Duke of Aumale, to the country's leading academic society, Institut de France, and was listed as a national cultural and historical relic.   A historic noble estate in the north of France, comprising two main buildings: the Grand Château and the Petit Château.
The landscaping was by the premier landscape architect of the day, André Le Nôtre, who also designed the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Upon seeing the singular beauty of the estate, the French novelist Madame de La Fayette said, "Of all the places you could imagine, there is nowhere comparable to Chantilly."
