Celebrated for its incomparable beauty, the Chantilly Racecourse and the 186cm long Grandes Ecuries (Grand Stables) are the birthplace of thoroughbred racing in France, a hallowed ground still echoing with the thundering hooves of Peintre Celebre, Montjeu, Zarkava and other champion racers on their way to victory.

Louis Henri, Duke of Bourbon, Prince of Condé, was Prime Minister under Louis XV. At the beginning of the 18th century, he ordered the construction of a stable that would reflect his lofty status and lifelong passion for horses. The Grand Stables, long considered the most beautiful in the world, were thus born. |

Known as the “Living Museum of the Horse”, the museum maintains a stable of many breeds of thoroughbreds even today. |
